REGION: Metropolitan raises water rates Water rates will be going up again following approval Tuesday of two 5 percent annual increases by the Metropolitan Water District board, starting in January. The board had considered 2013 rate hikes of 7.5 percent and 6.5 percent followed by 5 percent jumps in 2014. But directors rejected those after months of committee meetings and public hearings and after lengthy comments Tuesday in Los Angeles from 30 people on both sides of the issue. Help spread the word!
